Police: Pearl River, Nanuet Men Parked Illegally In Pickup Truck Had Heroin
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Rockland County men were grabbed for possession of 32 packs of heroin on Friday after police found them parked in a fire zone, according to the Orangetown Police Department.
The two were arrested after midnight patrol officers responded to an anonymous call of two suspicious people inside a black pickup truck parked at 48 E. Crooked Hill Road in Pearl River, police said.
When officers arrived, they found Frank Marchionni, 25, of Nanuet, and Jason Russio, 27, of Pearl River, parked in the fire zone, police said.

Scarsdale's Howard Stein, 96, 'Father Of Check-Cashing Industry'
Howard I. Stein, 96, the founder of RiteCheck in 1949 and the Check Cashers Association of New York in 1957, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at his home in Scarsdale.
Stein, who was born in Brooklyn in 1920 and lived in Scarsdale since 1967, served with General Douglas MacArthur during WWII, used the money he had saved during the war to purchase a half-interest in a check cashing store on West 135th St. in Harlem.

Popeyes' Town Of Poughkeepsie Opening Delayed Till Next Week
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Sorry fried chicken fans, you'll have to wait until Friday, Feb. 17 to get a Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen chicken fix thanks to Thursday's snow storm, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
Construction officials of the new restaurant, located at 535 Haight Ave., in the Town of Poughkeepsie, said the Monday, Feb.13th grand opening had to be pushed back due to the snow, said the Journal.
This is the second delay for the restaurant which had planned to open last year but a switch in contractors slowed the construction process, they added.
