Stanford Woman, 27, Killed After Vehicle Crashes Into Wappinger Creek
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Stanford woman died Sunday when her vehicle landed in Wappinger Creek on Bullshead Road after striking a bridge guide rail, slid along the rail and ended up in the water, according to New York State Police.
Lynette Ruffin, 27, of Stanford, was discovered inside the car after state police from the Poughkeepsie barracks responded to a 911 call of a report of a vehicle in the water, said Mellisa McMorris, spokeswoman for the state police.
When troopers arrived on scene they saw the vehicle on its roof and partially submerged in the Wappinger Creek, McMorris said.

In the matter of a minute, the life of 20-year-old Tyrone Jackson, formerly of Sloatsburg, was lost when his car crashed into a commuter bus on Friday after skidding on ice and snow on Route 17 in Tuxedo, according to Tuxedo Police.
The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when Jackson was traveling in the right-hand northbound lane in a 2005 Honda on Route 17, which was still covered with snow and ice from Thursday's storm, when he crossed lanes into oncoming traffic, hitting a Coach USA commuter bus, said Lt. John Norton.
