He was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Stamford and was the son of Willard Henry and Adelaide Mildred (Wright) Kemp. He had attended Springdale, Burdick and Stamford High School (1939). His son Bill Kemp is a Stamford constable. He was proud of his heritage and had traced the family back to his third great-grandparents, James and Anne (Lang) Kemp of Corradownan, County Cavan, Ireland. Putnam County Homes Sales Rise 30% In First Quarter PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Despite snow and cold, real estate sales surged nearly 30 percent in Putnam County during the first quarter of 2015, according to statistics from the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. Compared with the first quarter of 2014, the number of housing units sold in Putnam climbed 29.8 percent. Single-family home sales grew 26.6 percent. Norwalk High Percussion Ensemble Wins Regional Crown, Looks For More NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk High School Winter Percussion Ensemble won the Music Arts Conference Championship for their class, Scholastic Marching Open, and is competing this weekend in the WGI World Championships in Ohio. Norwalk scored a season high of 94.500 in the MAC championships as it won its fourth straight title. The Bears took off by bus for Dayton at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. They were scheduled to compete in the Preliminary Round on Thursday. Then, depending on how they place, they will perform in the semifinals Friday. The top teams advance to the final Saturday.

David Laventhol, Former VP For Publisher Of Papers In Stamford, Greenwich FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- David Laventhol, a former editor and publisher for Times Mirror newspapers, died Wednesday at the age of 81. Laventhol was the group vice president of the company’s Eastern Division when it owned The Advocate of Stamford and Greenwich Time. Laventhol was a longtime employee of Times Mirror, and the publisher for the company from September 1989 until January 1994. During his tenure, he created New York Newsday, a citywide newspaper that competed for circulation with other New York dailies.
