Summit Volvo Dealership Employee Stole 3 Cars: Police
A 30-year-old Newark man was arrested and charged on Wednesday, June 18, with stealing three cars from a Volvo dealership in Summit where he worked, authorities said.
Henrri Bonilla was an employee at Smythe Volvo at 40 River Rd. and used his access to key fobs to steal three vehicles over the course of eight weeks, Summit police said.
On Tuesday, April 15, he stole a black 2025 Volvo EX90, valued at $90,000. On Wednesday, May 7,he stole a gray 2025 Volvo EX90 valued at $85,000. On Monday, May 26, he stole a black 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLE valued at $37,168, police said.

A 19-year-old former soccer player has been identified as the person struck and killed by an NJ Transit train on Tuesday, May 27 in Summit.
At 1:28 a.m., Morris and Essex Line train 6907, which departed New York Penn Station and was en route to Dover, struck and fatally injured Dylan Faulkner, NJ Transit said.
A native of England, Faulkner moved to Summit at the age of 12, attending middle school and high school there, according to his obituary. After graduating Summit High School, he attended university back in England, his obituary reads.

Two BMWs Taken In Residential Burglary: Summit PD
Burglars entered a home in Summit early Wednesday, May 21, and left with two BMWs, authorities said.
At 5 a.m., the suspects entered the residence on the 200 block of Ashland Road through an unsecured rear door, Summit police said. While inside, the suspects located and stole two sets of vehicle keys and fled the scene in two BMWs, a 2024 BMW X7 and a 2021 BMW X3, that belonged to the homeowners, police said.

Lonn Mullen, a 53-year-old firefighter in Summit, died on Thursday, May 8, after a battle with cancer, the city announced.
Mullen joined the Summit Fire Department in April 1995 and served for the next 30 years, following in the footsteps of his father, a Batallion Chief for 25 years in Summit, the city said.

A GPS tracker helped police in Summit locate a stolen vehicle on Monday, Feb. 3, leading to the arrest of four teenagers, authorities said.
At 4:45 p.m., a 2022 Range Rover was reported stolen from a parking garage in downtown Summit, police said. Officers used the Range Rover's GPS system to monitor its movements, police said.
