'Great Job George'!
Maybe a 1%-2% reduction in next year's State Agency Budgets, or eliminate some obvious waste in the State Budget and return the saving's to the Cities and Towns?
Our DPW's yearly $1 Million Dollar Budget has been level funded for seven or eight years at that figure.
If you hear any 'good news' on the State Budget keep us posted, thanks for your help on Sutton Street and our Bridges that are being done over.

Excellent points and clarification Mr. Davis, plus if I recall the Private Citizens that worked on the Street Scape project 'volunteered' all their time to the Town, at no cost to the Taxpayers.
Plus the majority of Taxpayers that I have spoken with prefer the way the Town looks now, in its Whitinsville and Rockdale Village area. I would think it would only be a minority that do not approve the new look, in my opinion the old look was some what depressing..

UPSO,
Could it be 'That Not Is All As It Appears To Be'?
Are thought's always Institutionalized to one being or person, or entity, or one owner, and likewise transported by only one owner?
Are their possible exceptions to many variable thoughts by other people channeled through one person, or reduced to writing by one person for other thought carriers.?
Their are many historians that believe President Wilson's wife scribed, his thoughts, and comments, reply's, penned letters after he survived a stroke while in Office as President.
As Johnny Cash sung one of his favorite song's, 'What Is Truth', some may still seek the answer's. :) View Comment
This could be just the Tip of the Iceberg with so many Veterans coming back from the two Wars on the Global War on Terror. Think about it some of these Men and Women have slugged through any where's from five to seven horrific Combat tours, because maybe the Political hard decision of reinstitution of the Military draft may have not been Politically fashionable.
The Military and their Families have carried the water for the rest of us American's on these two Wars for many years, while most of Americans went to the Malls and were unaffected by the wars unless they had loved ones in the Theater of these two War Operations.
Recent information released by our Government and the VA reflects 22 Veterans of all our past conflicts commit suicide a day in America. Many of these Veterans are not just coming home with obvious Physical wound's but also hidden wounds of PTSD and TBI. Their is no exact cure all science to the symptoms, of PTSD and TBI, our Nations Veterans have been struggling with these issues going back to since their was Wars. Some may recall Shell Shocked, Battle Fatigue, now PTSD and TBI, the Department Of Veterans Affairs has taking great strides but it is a very complex issue with no easy answers or one treatment size fits all for these troubled Veterans.
This Veteran will have to face the Bar of Justice for his actions, and we also have to give the upmost highest credit for the Officers involved in handling this situation. But does supporting our Troops mean maybe more then putting a Yellow Ribbon on our Vehicle's? Should we also demand that they receive the best Mental Health Screening before their Discharge and proper follow up fully funded Health Care if problems should develop later in life from their service? Plus if we are going to be involved in future long drawn out Wars, should the draft be considered?
Their are many documented case's with our Veterans and their flashbacks which could be very tumultuous, for those not experienced with PTSD. For those that remember Audie L. Murphy one of the most decorated soldiers from WWII he suffered daily from PTSD from reports of friends that knew him. With all these Veterans returning from these two Wars, maybe at local Police Inservice Training seminars they could have some people from the Department Of Veterans Affairs, maybe training, teaching our First Responders in how to understand PTSD and TBI symptoms of our returning Veterans if possible? Plus if it would help?

Based upon this story, policeman Dejordy's actions are highly commendable.

Congratulations, Senator More on You New Position in the Massachusetts Legislature, and the General Court.
Hopefully someday an issue the Legislature may address is the High Cost of Nursing Home Care for Long Term/Assisted care for the Citizens of Massachusetts. On average a monthly stay in one of these suggested facilities for a love one is between $8000-$10,000 a month depending on the facility. Plus a 10 Day Bed hold for all those in a Nursing Home that could have to go to a Hospital, from the Nursing Home.
A lot of Seniors are unaware that Federal Medicare only covers a 90 day stay in a Nursing Home, under certain conditions. After the 90 days the cost then falls to the individual or family of the patient still in the Nursing Home, unless they did proper Estate Planning. I think one may qualify for State Medicaid coverage if a person fall's within the State's poverty guidelines?
Maybe Long Term Care 'low cost Insurance' should be considered through Mass Health for all Citizens, or through the Group Insurance Commission for those Taxpayers that wish to be prepared if a love one should end up in a Nursing Home unexpectedly or other unforseen Medical events. Plus Private Long Term care Insurance can be any where's from $500 -$1000 a month, in these economic time's most cannot afford this along with all their other normal living expenses.

UPSO,
I guess I do not agree on 'Assumptions','Interpretations' 'Feelings' and 'View' Points', some that you mentioned, plus not all appears to be what it appears to be. ;)
In this big World 'when you think about it' does it not amount to a 'Hill Of Bean's' anyways?

UPSO,
You could appear to be somewhat of an intelligent cerebral person, I think we can maybe both agree the many numerous complex issues of our Town, Nation, did not happen over night. Nor can they be resolved by us just discussing them in the context you have outlined or suggested in your comment.
I think we can both agree the days of Ozzie and Harriet, and Leave It To Beaver, and some may say America's Golden Age, along with the Leadership of the Greatest Generation that once echoed in the pillars of American Society has slipped away. Our facets of our Political Leadership today is maybe more 'Ceremonial' then a willingness to make the hard decision's, or by which way the wind may blow or political correctness, or what may be fashionable in the moment or times.
Until our Politician's are willing to maybe make some very hard decision's, I am afraid just one of the many legions of National and Local issues, the DPW which is one you mentioned may never be resolved, but who knows? Plus surely not by us two minor wordsmith's discussing it on this Website, in my opinion for what it may be worth.
I am glad I have lived the times that I have lived and witnessed different leadership styles, and what we could be lacking in today's times. I am afraid the problems and issues are way to big for me and you, I guess all I can suggest at this time is buckle up we may be in for a somewhat 'Bumpy Ride.' :)
Have to go I have some speeches of President Truman, Eisenhower, I have to review. View Comment
UPSO,
Let me put it this way, I would think Taxpayers may be more considerate of new facilities if they also know if they are going to be properly maintained.
We can also debate what 'maintain is', for decades but I think most taxpayers may understand my meaning.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? That is open to one's own opinion. :)
'IMHO' = In My Humble Opinion ;) View Comment

IMHO I think we can also agree the Town needs a lot things? :)
'I know at one time the DPW was hiring a Facility Maint person for the Town's many buildings, it is no longer advertised on the Towns Website? Do not know if they hired someone or if the funding was maybe withdrawn for that position?'
As a lot of Taxpayers may feel why build new facilities, sports fields, other Town facilities, pay good Tax money if they may not be properly maintained?

Maybe if he offered a helpful cost saving opinion, assistance, on 'Steam Heat' a possible Town Entity may be some what taken back that a Private Citizen may have a better idea then them, plus even if its more economical, could you imagine that?
I think Mr. Davis not to long ago was issued a Certificate of Achievement from the Board Of Selectmen for his 30 plus years of Citizen Volunteerism to the Town. Mr. Davis has the ability to lead people down the barrel of a Cannon without encountering resistance from a single one, in my opinion. I have a feeling the Powers to be at Seven Main Street, and the DPW already are well aware of Mr. Davis capabilities in his profession. But would they be presently be potentially receptive to his assistance if even offered, IMHO I think maybe not.
IMHO I have a feeling we will differ on opinions on this. :) View Comment
Good information anyways just in case if the next possible issues involves the Steam aspect of the system.
Good news it was only an electronic controller, they say its good to get your heating system checked before the heating season starts. View Comment
Maybe the School Committee could maybe consider re-posting the position as an Administrative Assistant to the School Superintendent, plus at a possible lower pay scale, and less job requirements? Then maybe use that savings and the potential additional $175,000 in the Governor's proposed Budget for the Northbridge School system to maybe hire additional Teaching staff, Student programs, for the School system? Thanks for the excellent information Jack Davis, I was talking with some of the old timers at a local Coffee Shop this morning and they thought the Town Hall is still heated for free by the old Shop?
I know at one time the DPW was hiring a Facility Maint person for the Town's many buildings, it is no longer advertised on the Towns Website? Do not know if they hired someone or if the funding was maybe withdrawn for that position?
Thanks for all your information and the helpful website. View Comment
Lets hope the Town Hall heating system is maybe back working at 100%?
Could 'Ice Station Zebra' winter jackets maybe be in Vogue for our Town Hall employee's this Winter season?? View Comment
