I was 9 and living in coastal Scituate, MA. I remember living at a shelter eating Fruit Loops and Beef Raviolis for weeks! When it was finally "safe" to return home, I remember driving on TOP of the sand that was as high as rooftops.
Remnants of displaced houses were everywhere! It really was the freakiest thing I have ever seen....exciting for a 9-year-old but I have seen what Mother Nature can do when she is mad and it is nothing to take lightly.
