Before 6:00 AM there was a large piece of equipment widening the corners. Have these people slept? I do not accept the characterization that surrounding Towns did a better job on their streets. Grafton once again demonstrated that we are a Super Bowl organization. Thank you one and all. View Comment
I would NEVER say folks don't care. This is a passionate Town - people care. My point was there is much work to be done and they are doing their best. It is disheatening to see spot accusations. Calls to the TA's Office about citizen concerns are addressed. All I ask is when you see a very tired truck driver you waive at him or her with ALL your fingers. View Comment
Sammy you are the voice of reason. By the way, has anyone beside us read the capital budget requirements for the DPW. These folks have been doing exceptional work with smoke and mirrors for years and still must put their lunch in the same fridge where infected birds are kept awaiting analysis. Or, how about avoiding the bare wires in the rest room while they use the "facilities". I guess it's OK for them - I mean they are just DPW workers. View Comment
High praise for the crew at the DPW. They have been working around the clock. Let us not lose sight (no pun intended) that we saw over two feet of snow. First priority is to make the streets passable for emergency vehicles - after that is done there is a lengthy list which includes widening roads, clearing school areas, plowing sidewalks, treating road surfaces, clearing intersections, providing safe bus stops, and easing sight paths. Let's add to the mix - we are getting freezing rain which means trucks that were plowing must begin sanding. Our DPW has their finger on the pulse of this community and is working around the clock to make our Town safe. Finally, these men and women need a couple of hours of sleep here and there. I'm proud of them and their dedication to us all. View Comment
Jenn you are the official reporter for "Ask the Geezers" and we (30 inches) depend on your reporting (30 inches) of the "official" snow count (30 inches) for the Town Of Grafton. So how much (30 inches) snow did Grafton get? View Comment
The "farmer" as our Moderator calls him, was all a Selectman should be. His tireless representation took him away from his family and his work yet you never once heard him complain. His contributions on this Board and most especially toward the cause of low income housing makes Peter a real HERO in my book. Thank you Peter, thank you very much. View Comment
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, your opinion is weak at best. I too have been associated with local housing authorities for thirty years. Plus, I was born and raised in public housing. I believe I have a unique view of the state of our public housing for many, many years both as a resident and a local citizen trying to pay back the benefits of my youth. I do not share your opinion that more government is necessary. There have been two high profile executive problems which have made the press. In fact there is process in place already which would have identified the situation had it not been criminally covered up. The overwhelming majority of local housing authorities are operating well above the standards already in place. The Governor's plan kills jobs - local jobs. Local directors and local maintenance staff are FIRED and then "invited" to re-apply for a regional position. LOCAL control of housing is lost - the five member board of LOCAL housing commissioners who oversee housing in their LOCAL city or town are gone and replaced with more government control. This is a bad plan - a VERY bad plan and people at a grassroots level need to speak up and say NO to big government's unwelcome and unnecessary intrusion on a caring, informed, and compassionate LOCAL operation. We are doing just fine Mr Governor. Change for the sake of change is contrary to an efficient locally run operation. View Comment
Along with Sean Graves I had the great pleasure in coaching Andrew in Little League. His folkes were ALWAYS there. Andrew's effort was ALWAYS on high. You see, this family knew one speed - "all out". Be it baseball or community service the kids learned well from their parents - it's all about service. Thank you so much for your service A.C. - you are an inspiration to us all. View Comment
C'mon friends this election is over and the President is re-elected. It is time to set aside gridlock. We have a lot of work to do - let's roll up our sleeves, put on our USA caps, and work for a better America. View Comment
over_taxed is right. We can handle this by eliminating ponds in our yard and doing something as simple as using a "bounce" sheet if we are out at dusk. We do not need to re-visit my personal nightmare of agent orange. View Comment
Selectman Brook Padget was adamant about PAYT when the option first materialized. I was adamant against it. It is now quite apparant that I was wrong. When I'm wrong I have no trouble in being accountable for my own statements. This is one of those times. View Comment
Hey lamp please advise the payroll cutoff amount which justifies the life of a child so that we can budget properly. I pray you are not so naive to think the life of a child bullied is not every parents fear. View Comment
The government sold me a bill of goods in 1969 telling me the spray they used in the jungle was harmless. Fool me once shame on you - fool me twice shame on me.
I choose to take precautions in my way. Thanks for not spraying your harmless crap into my lungs. View Comment
Romney will say ANYTHING to be elected. I am tired of hearing how he worked with the Democrats in Massachusetts. Remember - Massachusetts was 47 of 50 during his term. He was a tea-bagger to get the political right and now he tells us he is a moderate. Wake up America - re-elect the President. View Comment
