First, when you plow with a pickup, you can only push so much snow. Until yesterday, Feb. 12th, I rated it questionable at best. However how I rated that went down when the chose to send two frontend loaders, a ten wheel dumptruck, and two small trucks into my neighborhood to widen the streets. After the loaders pushed it back onto the sidewalks, the 10 wheeler drove around and around. the small trucks trailed by cleaning out some driveways while leaving others still blocked with new 3 ft high snow banks. I'm sure the single woman you left plowed under really felt appreciated when she came home and found her driveway blocked while her neighbor' had been cleared by the town trucks. And the guy acroos from wondered why only some were cleaned, others not??? View Comment
Yeah, and I filled up yesterday noontime CFs in Leicester and paid FIFTEEN CENTS LESS a gallon than they were charging in Grafton. Glad I was smart enough to fill up then.

Google- Rural Gas Service + Millbury Ma to see how close an LP gas disaster was. Grafton FD responded to the incident that day. The facility involved was a mole hill compared to the proposed North Grafton facility. Anyone who wants to ask about it? Contact Millbury Fire Dept. The are still people associated with that incident in and around Millbury to this day. View Comment
You don't have to go very far to see the effects of an lp facility mishap and the resulting damage. The attached link is an article printed by the Lewiston (Maine) Daily Sun on October 1, 1971 for an incident that happened right next door if MILLBURY. Initial cause was an accidental inginition of a gas tank being filled on a CAMPER. If you want to see the tank involved in the incident, it's behind the present XTRAMART on Rt 146 just south of the Shops at Blackstone Valley shopping center. The tank involved that day was a peanut compared to the ones being moved to Grafton. To have personally witnessed the 30 feet high escaping flame from the fire impinged tank was one of the most dramatic things I have ever encountered. One you wouldn't want to see in a residential area at any cost.

One more comment in regards to "We won't cut corners on the project"..... The Grafton and Upton railroad cuts corners with safety everyday in this town. How? By poorly marked and unsignalled highway crossings on the various local roads and state highways it crossings. They may not be high-speed, but grade crossings just as dangerous to the public, and are grossly under-equipped. Flagmen and stop signs are early 20th century technology.

And you dont have to go far to find an incident in one of these facilities. Millbury had a catastrophic LP gas fire in 1972 on RT 146. It came a whisker from taking out everything west of Rt 146 on the west side of MIllbury.

It would be in the GRR's better interest to not pull stunts and surprises, and to gove details to abutters as to what the future plans are. They already have freedom to place stop signs on on public ways, Sibley St., Old Upton Road, etc. with no notice to the public. Maybe they should be required to put the proper, modern crossing signals at the heavily travelled roads they cross. An improptu train can be quite annoying. From the sounds of future plans, if they want to run more than a rinky-dink railroad, they should have public safety in mind as well. View Comment
Went to vote about 130PM, no lines. I was disturbed by the "election observer" who checked my name off here list as the election workers asked my name and address for checking in. It's none of her ********* business who I am when I vote. Pardon my crassness, but it irked me. When I asked a poll worker who was observing, the answer was, "I dunno." View Comment
The shoddy work wasn't done on my house but the one next to mine by some outfit from Minnesota or Wisconsin. When I contracted my repair work, I had the LOCAL contractor, the one whose signs you still see out there in front of local houses today, to do the work. He was beaming the day another local contractor stopped by to tell him it was nice to see the local guy getting a piece of the pie after the hail storm. View Comment

Building inspector issued building permit a few years ago for siding project 3 months after my contractor applied to the TH for it.

This flipover is no accident! Road sand buildup along that guardrail for years of neglect and lack of road side maintenance has built a small ramp in front of this guardrail. This guardral fence is supposed to be at a hight sufficient for preventing a vehicle from ramping up and over the top of the rail. Year after year of road sweeping doesn't remove the build up a sand along many roadsides and steel guardrail fences along state roads are set back just far enough for a mond of sand to build up in front of these protective barriers. These barriers aren't put up to keep dogs and cats off the road, they're place where they are to keep vehicles from vearing off the road edge in dangerous spots. Check it out- the side of Worcester St where this occured could use a good cleanout along the bootom of the guardrail. Thos weeds and golden rods are rooted even with the bottom edge of the the steel fence.
