Peter is a good selectman because he truly cares about the Town. He is always well prepared and takes the time to look into matters. He has done a good job and will be missed on the Board. Thanks for your years of service Pete! View Comment
Good for the Town in it's attempt to make sure that what is being done there is being done within the rights of the railroad. This guy does not care one bit about the town or the neighbors only lining his pockets. This is not an issue of being business friendly it's about public safety and making sure what he is doing is within his rights. Propane today what's next, hazardous materials?? This guy has a history in town of saying one thing and then doing another, ie Hassanamesit Subdivision. I would not trust this guy as far as I could throw him, which isn't far! He's a bully and likes bullying people/towns around!

This guy is a clown, all he does is attack the good Senator. Why don't you tell us what you are going to do? No wait don't bother, I'm gladly voting for the hardworking Senator Mike Moore! View Comment
Sounds like a good idea, we can't move forward on fixing a problem that still exists until we try to come to a consensus, or at least find some type of common ground.

A few things need to be clarified, as Buckets indicates Mr. Padgett has served on the the Board during a period of tremendous growth in which many large capital expenditures came about including the police station, fire station and new school. Mr Padgett supported these along with the remainder of the Board, including Mr Adams. How does Mr Spinney feel about these buildings? Do you support the new school Bruce, it must be spring because all I hear is crickets.......
As far as the library, yes Mr. Padgett supported it and so did Mr Spinney, prior to the vote he spoke in support of it. Does he still support it or has he flip flopped? Again crickets......
As far as calling Mr Padgett a flag he is the furthest thing from that, he very really flip flops and is a man of his convictions.
If people don't like Mr Padgett just say it, but don't question the job he has done as a Selectman because he has done an excellent job for this town and if he is not re-elected the town will be the loser, trust me! View Comment
I applaud the Moderator's directives, I wish some other organizations did the same. By allowing and even inviting candidates to youth events loses the focus of why we are there in the first place. This is a local election and need to keep that in mind going forward.

I wouldn't do business there anyway, they rejected me for one inch of my windshield wiper being ripped and when I asked the owner about it he started yelling at me about something in Wisconsin. Very rude, I try to support local business, but not here anymore.

Jim - Joann's letter is right on, as is the comment above. Brook single handily approached Mr. Bernat, brought him to the table and lead the negotiations on behalf of the Board and Town. So I can honestly say that if he were not involved there would probably not be anything going on at the sites. We had several other interested parties look at the property and run, not walk away from it. So to downplay Brook's involvement is 100% false.
Brook was also very active in the re-use of the South Grafton Community House. A prior Town Administrator wanted to "mothball" the property, but Brook was one of the supporters for the re-use of the property.
As far as CPC, Brook was one of the proponents when it came up for consideration due to his support of open space, affordable housing, recretaional fields, and historic preservation. In fact, I think it was the only time he and Roger Hohman agreed on something.
For a regular Town Meeting attendee you know the Board of Selectman does not spend the money, they put the proposals forth and its up to Town Meeeting to vote nay or yay. Actually, for the large capital projects it's typically a Building Committee, so if Mr. Spinney were elected do you think this would change??
Did Mr. Spinney not support these buildings that have previously been approved. They are the main reasons the tax rate has risen? Would he layoff municipal center employees, DPW workers, teachers, or police officers to lower the tax rate? Where would he cut to lower the tax rate?
It's at times like these that we need an experienced leader like Brook on the Board.
I sat on the Board with Brook for several years and know his capabilities. He is an excellent Selectman and will proudly cast my vote for my FRIEND, Brook Padgett.

Congratulations Tim! Mr. Adams is right, it is hard to please everybody, but Tim is a hard worker and has done a good job during his time here. Nobody is perfect and we can all focus on a person's flaws, but if we look at the whole picture you will see Tim has many positive ones. View Comment
Brook is an excellent Selectman and has admirably served this Town. He knows that you cannot please everyone and always makes the best decision for the Town. His decisions and hard work have helped shaped Grafton into the fine town it is today, which many of us are proud to call home. Look at his credentials and accomplishments during his time on the Board, there is no exaggeration. We need his experience on the Board, especially given the current economic environment.
