I think Peter has done a fine job in office and I am sad to see him go. I do hope whoever comes aboard has some backbone and asks questions and not just automatically go with what the TA wants. There is only one other person with a bow tie that asks questions, the other ones especially the Chairman are church mice that rubber stamp anything the boss wants. I respect whoever runs and serves the town, even those who I don't always agree with but all politicians must remember that if you only want to serve the boss and not do what the people ask ,please don't run. I can't believe some of these comments A father and his son could of died and some clown is writing he should be charged for it. If the town started doing things like that there would be a ton of people being charged for services. How many fires are started by a bad decision or mistake? How many accidents happen due to the same thing? Perhaps if you are so perfect and never make mistakes you could give a seminar in town to everyone who is not as smart as yourself. I would love to learn how to live my life without ever making another mistake or having a lapse of judgement. View Comment
I think this cease and desist order is just to show the towns people that the town is trying to do something. I am positive Mr. Priscolli knows the laws and has been advised by the best attorneys and the Feds what he can and cannot do, this is his business after all and he is very successful at it. My property abuts the Railroad, not in the area where these tanks are going thank god and I really feel for those close to it, I would not want that in my area and I am not at all happy about what is going on. I am willing to bet this will all continue just like in Upton and after legal bills for the town add up we will find out that we are powerless to all of this. I also saw that someone wrote about the derailment behind the Grafton Inn, I looked into it and the Feds did respond so they are aware of what happened but there was no leaks or damage so I don't know what good any of that would do. There were local Police, Fire, DEP, and the Federal Railroad officials and NTSB present at the accident. View Comment
I'm sure the chief is saying this because he has to. The Feds are the ones who trickle the money down to the towns so they all have to be on the same page. I for one believe that this story creates questions against itself. The story says that in no way Marijuana is a drug that can benefit anyone of any medical need and that it does not have medicinal purposes but then it says that THC is available in a pill form for medicine? I also am highly suspicious of statistics that say that crime increases near dispensaries. I have known many people in my life that use Marijuana and all they want to do is either sit and eat Doritos or Laugh then relax then sleep. I have never seen anyone using Marijuana that would want to go Break into a building and steal. I would bet that if you asked 100 Police Officers if they would either deal with people who are under the influence of Alcohol or Marijuana most or all would choose Marijuana.
I find it rather idiotic that I can go buy Cigarettes almost anywhere that cause Cancers, Heart Disease, Birth Defects, Lung Problems and who knows what else. I can also go on many streets in this country and buy Alcohol which also causes Health and emotional problems but I am not allowed to buy Marijuana which has Medicinal benefits.
Lastly ask the Chiefs of Police Association and the Courts how much money is spent on Marijuana possession in this country per year? How many of those charges are dismissed or continued without a finding? I bet cutting this alone would give the cities and towns the money they need without cutting services. View Comment
Gray Wolf, come on, Please. I love how people are so blind as to what has happened in this country for the last 12 years. I am what you would call a true independent minded voter. In the past I have voted for Democrats and Republicans, I agree with different policies of both parties. Lets be real about this, if John Mccain became President four years ago we would still of had the recession and still have been in this mess. We are in this mess because of Bushes failed policies. What were the jobs being lost when Obama was sworn in? How much of a downward spiral was the economy in when this man walked into the oval office? I am not saying I am an Obama supporter, I wanted John Mccain to win four years ago but that did not happen. I am still undecided, I don't know which way I will go but blaming a Man that walked into a hornets nest seems unfair to me. How is one to make these magic policies that everyone thinks will get us out of the hole right away? When foolish politics are in play for a number of years it will take a number of years to correct them. View Comment
Perhaps you feel that your building is in need of repairs but the only building I will vote for any money to be spent on is the DPW Garage. Everyone that runs this town always overlooks that building, but it is by far the worst occupied building this town owns. What heat loss studies have been done there? How efficient is that building with holes in the walls and a bad roof? Wanting money for upgrades to make the staff more comfortable is not how I want to see my contributed money spent. View Comment
Mr Johnson, perhaps I didn't express myself clear enough in my post. I do not know Mr. Perry or anything about him, you seem to be a very good friend of his and are speaking highly of his character. What I am saying is it is very possible that the Sleigh came up missing before he got to Roneys. Are you certain it wasn't taken from his Truck before he got there or did it fall out earlier. I am not proclaiming to be an investigator like you wrote but I myself find it hard to believe that anyone would have the nerve to do something like that at a Funeral Home while there are people entering and exiting. Lastly since this story first broke there have been a few people who I have heard from myself that said they saw him arrive and had no recollection of it being in the back of his truck. I suppose I must thank you for calling me an ass for I have been called far worse. View Comment
This guy wonders why people are so upset with him and he does not get it. When people go to him he is suppose to work for us, he is suppose to help us with the process. I have had to deal with this guy on several occasions and all I have had were bad experiences. I had to pay for surveys on my property for a simple job that cost me $800 and the materials for the job were $200. He is rude with a know it all attitude but the problem is he won't tell you how to correct the issue. He thinks he is the commander who says no that's wrong fix it, ok what do I have to do? You figure it out then get in touch with me. I have never been treated as rudely as I have been by him. Another feather in the cap of the town by hiring this guy. He is the reason people will do work and not get permits because they refuse to deal with him. View Comment
I find it extremely hard to believe that with all the people at Ernie's wake including myself that no one saw anyone take a sleigh out of a Truck. There were people coming in and out of Roneys the whole time. I think this whole story is highly suspicious, hopefully the police feel the same. View Comment
I'm glad to see that you are prepared for the event better than we were. Events like this are positive for the town and gives it that small town feel and at the same time promotes business involvement with the community, Good luck. View Comment
I hope Lois from the BOH is ok with all of this. Everyone participating better have their Serve Safe papers, a word of advice to all participants. I am involved in a Club in town and we tried to do the same thing last winter with a Chili contest and she came down on us telling us that people cannot be in a public situation while giving food to people without being certified. I hope your contest goes better than ours did. View Comment
I am an advocate for the DPW Building and will continue to do so and while Mold should be addressed ASAP at the Library this is not the only town Building with Mold. The DPW Building has Black Mold all over the walls in areas. Just because the public does not frequent the Building does not mean this should be allowed to happen. There are Town Employees who work there every day and they have been exposed for quite some time. This is our building, I am always there to recycle, I wish other citizens would go and look there at the conditions. I am re stating that if there is mold in the Library it has to be dealt with immediately. View Comment
If I understand this plan it says that this can only be accepted at the fall town meeting in October. The bugs will be gone by then, but it is a wise plan to get back into due to the health hazards. I am hoping the BOH does something about the Rat problem in the Hollywood Drive area. I know some residents up there who are seeing Rats in their yards on a daily basis and they claim the BOH has failed to act quick enough. As we know Rats carry many germs and disease. View Comment
eprisby, When people are being searched for there most certainly is costs that run over a normal operating budget. While equipment is paid for it has to be staffed and operated by people who are not on duty and not working regular shifts. If we had to rely on staff to go and search for people there would be no one working the streets The majority of employees who are searching are being paid overtime. There are also costs for fuel and equipment that would not be spent if the equipment was idle and not being used. Municipal budgets are just that, budgets, there is a general number that goes for all services. The biggest waste in my opinion is when you take these public safety people such as Police and Firefighters and you have them looking in the woods for someone that does not want to be found and then there is a real emergency. Towns like Grafton and Upton rely on Call Firefighters, when they are on a goose chase and there is a real emergency it will take them that much longer to get out of the forest and to the scene. How would you feel if yourself or a loved one needed help and the response time just doubled? View Comment
We all need time to think and reflect at times in our life but you have to be responsible about it. Does this guy have any idea how many resources and time by equipment and people that were spent looking for him. Perhaps to stop people from doing this a total cost of services should be billed to the individual. I can see if this man was ill or incapable of making decisions and he walked away but he sounds like an intelligent person who should know better. This story sounds like he purposely stayed away while he thought people were searching for him. I get upset when my tax money is spent on something like this rather than a actual search or assisting those really in need. View Comment
The Sign says Violators Subject To Fine. Who is going to enforce this? Are the Police going to look for smokers and write them a ticket or does the BOH have the right to fine people? View Comment
I cannot attend these meetings due to work so I want to comment about this situation. I wrote here before that I cannot believe that money is going to be spent on any town building without taking care of the DPW Garage on Upton St. I frequently do my Recycling there and I have had the chance to see that building inside and out many times. I also have been to the Municipal Center many times as well and there is no comparison between the two buildings. What does the Municipal Center need? Heat? I propose that people who have the chance go to the Highway and the Municipal Center on the coldest day and see who has better heat. Is the inside of the MC covered with soot and the air quality so bad that it is difficult to breath because of exhaust fumes? Are there parts of the ceilings falling down at the MC, because there are at the Garage. Does the exterior of the MC have crumbling Cement falling off the walls? This is an outrage in my opinion, I am a taxpayer in this town and generations of my family have been also. I am sick of seeing money go where it is not needed and the Town should be ashamed of operating a building in that condition and putting Employees in such a place. I'm sure there are numerous violations and problems in that building. Why is our Building inspector not checking town buildings for problems first rather than checking and enforcing problems with Homes. I wrote before that if the Powers that be had to have their meetings there that building would be in far better condition.

Scratch excellent post, these are the points I was raising with my post. What has happened to this piece of land to make it now safe for cars to enter and exit? Nothing has, the road and the piece of land are no different than when the fire station was turned down. This will be very interesting when it gets to the planning board to see if they uphold their decision from before. View Comment
Aladdin I'm sorry to disagree with your memory but I also was at those meetings and Site Lines were most definitely one of the reasons we were told that nothing could go here. We were told that the piece of land is on a hill and traffic would have a hard time entering and exiting from the top and lower areas. View Comment
