"A faulty tank or an explosion of one of these proposed tanks could cause more of a massacre than the tragedy in Newtown, especially with an Elementary school, a library and a park all within the blast radius. "Our town is discussing deadbolts in doors at schools to increase safety. How do we protect our kids against a potential time bomb down the road?" Maybe you all could dismantle any natural gas or propane furnaces, boilers, stoves, and other appliances in all Grafton homes and replace them with wood stoves. That will cut demand for said gases and ensure that nobody in Grafton is a hypocrite by using these products but insisting that the facilities that ship and/or store them are in somebody *elses* back yard, preferably located in a poorer, less vocal town than Grafton. Such spoiled brats in Grafton. You all rest easy in your fancy town with your handsome homes while the car dealerships, propane/natural gas/coal/gasoline facilities are foisted off on some other town. Many towns around this country would be glad to have renewed life for their commercial/industrial lands. Grafton is full of high tech, finance, and government workers. Well, consider yourselves blessed, but don't become so arrogant, thinking those parts of the economy can go on forever. With the way things are going regarding fossil fuels, global warming, and many other ecological issues, you all may one day be very thankful for railroads as opposed to petroleum-based roadways. That all said, I cannot imagine that a 50 year old propane tank has much life left in it. I am hoping that it's been ultrasound tested as most large compressed air and fuel tanks are for wall thickness and/or inspected inside for corrosion. (All large propane tanks that I've seen have pressure/inspection hatches.) View Comment

I read all the negative comments about natural gas and propane and how dangerous they are so I *am sure* that nobody here complaining about this unloading terminal ever uses any said gases in their homes. Of course not :-) The reality is that many people use propane or natural gas, but want facilities for handling these products in somebody ELSE'S town. Please. View Comment
