SHREWSBURY, Mass. — The No. 1 seeded Shrewsbury Colonials football team is heading into the Division 1 playoffs Tuesday night.
Shrewsbury plays at Leominster's (8-4) Doyle Field at 7:45 p.m. The seventh-ranked Blue Devils are the fourth-seeded team in the division.
The other two Division 1 teams, Wachusett and St. John's, also face off Tuesday. Each team has hopes of advancing to an MIAA Super Bowl win.
"All four teams have proven that they're very good," said Shrewsbury Head Coach Terry Walles.
The 9-2 Colonials are led by Quarterback Mike Coggeshall, as well as by powerhouse players Zach Dionis and Nick Dilberto.
Walles said the Colonials' best asset going into Tuesday's game is the team's confidence.
"We're playing our best football right now," he said. "We've had two outstanding games in a row."
The last game the Colonials played – on Thanksgiving – saw the blue and gold triumphant over Milford 28-0, locking up the No. 1 seed as a result.
