GRAFTON, Mass. – Shrewsbury High School's varsity field hockey team walked off the turf at Grafton High School on Saturday as Div. I Central district champion, having iced Notre Dame Academy of Worcester, 2-0.
The Colonials will face the MIAA West champ at West Springfield High School on Tuesday. The opponent was not known as of Saturday afternoon.
“Our seniors did a great job, our goalie did a great job, and Justine Sheehan did a phenomenal job,” said Shrewsbury head coach Lauren Chenevert.
It was Sheehan who scored in the early minutes in the first half. With 8:20 left in the second, junior Christa Dorian sealed the deal with a second goal, with an assist from Sheehan.
“It was a team effort,” Chenevert said. “You know the saying, ‘It takes a village’? Well, we brought the village.”
