SHREWSBURY, Mass. - Shrewsbury High School teacher Jill Carter was selected as an Unsung Hero in the Saint Michael's College Teacher Recognition Program.

"Through this program, we honor those teachers who provide their students with the academic skills and moral support necessary to be successful in post-secondary pursuits," said Jerry Flanagan, vice president for admission and enrollment management for the college.

Carter was nominated by Shrewsbury High School graduate Jenna Maksian, a first-year student at the college in Vermont.

"Mrs. Carter has a great teaching style and connects well with not only me, but the rest of the students at Shrewsbury,” said Maksian. "Although science isn't my favorite subject, she made the subject more enjoyable for me and made me want to learn."

"We feel very fortunate to have Jenna Maksian as a member of our community," said Flanagan. "I hope that the best and brightest from Shrewsbury High School will continue to come to Saint Michael's College.”
