SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Several Shrewsbury High School student projects have received grants from the Shrewsbury High School Alumni Association. Grants were in amounts from $100 to $400.
The projects are Artist Working Hand in Hand – National Art Senior Exhibition; Biking the Underground Railroad; the Chemistry Club; Rachel’s Table and Project Linus; and Model UN – Northeastern University Conference. Money was also awarded for the purchase of 12 tripods for use by all classes and a two-semester workshop from two visiting artists.
The association's grant program has given more than $63,000 over 18 years to student projects.
The purpose of the alumni grant program is to assist students in achieving their project goals by providing them with seed money to get their projects off the ground. Money is raised during class reunions, in addition to being donated by individual alumni.
The association's Partnership Award was given to the Shrewsbury High School Educational Television Studio for its production of “All About Alumni Grants,” created and produced by students under the direction of Margaret Korab.
