SHREWSBURY, Mass. — It will cost more for businesses to connect to Shrewsbury’s water lines after selectmen voted unanimously to accept Town Manager Daniel Morgado’s recommended rates without discussion on Tuesday.

For commercial and industrial users, the cost will be $4,000 per connection, plus $1,000 for every 1,000 gallons or more used per day.

The conservation fee was set at $1,000 minimum. Anything more than 1,000 gallons per day will cost $1 per gallon.

The sewer connection fee will remain at $100.

The current connection fee structure is $9.09 per gallon, with a $1 per gallon conservation fee. The new rate structure will likely take effect in January.

Does this include developers that come in and build new streets and many homes? Does it include condo developments? Or does it include just commercial or industrial builders?
