SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Registered Democrats in Shrewsbury, organized by the Shrewsbury Democratic Town Committee, will be holding a caucus at 7 p.m. Monday in the media center of Oak Middle School to select delegates to the 2013 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention in Lowell.

Participants at the caucus will elect 17 delegates and three alternates.

The convention will be held July 13 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell; the original June date was changed by the Democratic State Committee so as not to coincide with the special election for U.S. Senate.

Delegates to this year’s convention will set the official platform of the Massachusetts Democratic Party.

The caucus is open to all who registered as Democrats by Dec. 31, 2012.

Those not elected as a delegate or alternate and who meet the qualifications may apply to be add-on delegates in a variety of categories.
