SHREWSBURY, Mass. — If you're thinking of running for a local position in Shrewsbury, now's the time to start gathering signatures. Nomination papers are now available from the Town Clerk's office.
Potential candidates running for major offices, including selectmen and school committee, need at least 50 signatures of registered Shrewsbury voters. Those wishing to run as a Town Meeting member need at least 10 signatures of registered voters who live in the precinct to be represented.
Nomination papers must be returned to the Town Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. March 19 for certification.
Nominees who wish to withdraw from a race must do so by April 4.
Those who want to vote in the May 7 town election should be registered by April 17.
