NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — State police arrested three men in Northborough on Thursday after a motor vehicle stop on Route 290 allegedly uncovered nearly 300 grams of heroin.

David Coss Vasquez, 30, of Bronx, N.Y., Valentin Casilla, 42, of Bronx, N.Y. and Juan Portes Cabrera, 57, of Lawrence  were charged with drug trafficking, conspiracy to violate drug laws and distribution of a Class A substance.

State Trooper Dana Oliver stopped the three suspects in their car on Route 290 westbound at about noon Thursday for various motor violations. A subsequent search of the car revealed the heroin.

According to Oliver, all three men provided false information. Upon further investigation it was determined that the vehicle was improperly registered and the driver was unlicensed. In addition, police believe their Puerto Rican identifications may have been forged.

Upon arresting the men, police seized their vehicle, cell phones and $2,483.

Cabrera and Casilla were arraigned on Friday in Westborough District Court. Both were held on $100,000 cash bail. They are due back in court on Nov. 1.
