SHREWSBURY, Mass. ‒ A Grafton man reported to have a "violent criminal history" and likely to be armed was taken into custody by a Shrewsbury K-9 officer and his dog Tuesday night in a swampy area off S. Quinsigamond Ave., police report.
Shrewsbury officers were advised to be on the lookout for Thomas F. Hussey, 48, of 58 Londonberry Road, Grafton. He was tracked down with the aid of Officer Chad Chysna and his German shepherd Buzzy, police said.
Hussey was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, interfering or mistreating a police dog and driving with a revoked or suspended license. Hussey was wanted on a warrant charging him with assault and battery in a previous incident.

• Daina Irwin, 49, of 57 O'Donnell Ave., was arrested at 50 Boston Turnpike on Tuesday, Aug. 14, and charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace following reports of two females having a dispute.
• Police received a report of a female shoplifter being detained inside 50 Boston Turnpike on Tuesday. The subject and another female outside the building were issued summonses for shoplifting by concealment.
• Police and fire units were sent to the south side of Coast Guard Island on Lake Quinsigamond on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in response to reports of an unattended kayak. The area was searched with a hovercraft, but nothing was found.
• On Aug. 14 at 7:51 a.m., police received a report from 10 Greenbriar Dr. of a mailbox wrapped in plastic wrap with a dead pigeon inside. The reporting party requested that information be taken.
