SHREWSBURY, Mass. — It was beginning to look like a bleak Christmas for hundreds of families in Shrewsbury, after thousands of dollars worth of donated toys and gifts for children and the needy were stolen from St. Anne's Family Services. But this Christmas tale may have a happening ending after all, thanks to donations from the community, a major toy company and the Worcester Police Academy.

Worcester police recruits will collect gifts for St. Anne's from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Worcester Police Academy, 9-11 Lincoln St., Worcester.

Needed items include toys, gift cards, gas cards and clothing.

Donations can also be dropped off at the church or mailed to St. Anne's Human Services,130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
