Man Charged In Attacks In Shrewsbury Bar

SHREWSBURY, Mass. — A Peabody man was arrested Wednesday and charged with attacking patrons and an employee of a Shrewsbury bar.

Darren Redmond, 40, was charged with three counts of assault and battery and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. His bail was set Thursday at $10,000. He was ordered to stay away from the alleged victims and JD's Sports Bar And Grill, and he must wear a GPS monitoring device.

According to a report by Shrewsbury Police Officer Peter Capalbo filed in Westborough District Court, Redmond was at the bar on 1 Pinedale Ave. when the situation became violent.

The report said Redmond threw one female victim who he was with forcefully to the ground, and then engaged in an altercation with three other people, including a female employee of JD's, whom police said he also threw to the ground.

According to the court report, Redmond assaulted two men who sustained bite wounds while attempting to restrain Redmond until police arrived.
