SHREWSBURY, Mass. — A two-vehicle collision about 11 a.m. Thursday at the entrance of Olde Shrewsbury Village shopping plaza on Route 20 caused one truck to flip and one car to catch fire.

A 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche operated by John Ford of Worcester was traveling East on Route 20 when he attempted to turn left into the plaza, according to a police statement.

The other vehicle involved was a 2005 Subaru Legacy traveling West on Route 20 operated by Steven Diaz of Nashua, N.H.

The Avalanche ended up on its roof as a result of the collision. The Subaru briefly caught fire, but it was extinguished immediately.

Shrewsbury police and fire along with UMass paramedics treated accident victims at the scene. Three people were transported to UMass University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by Shrewsbury Police Accident Reconstructionist Officer Richard H. Fiske.
