To the Editor,

This year, the Shrewsbury Education Foundation will be honoring Mark T. Murray with its Community Service for Shrewsbury Public Schools Award. I had the great privilege and pleasure of working with Mark for many years, on the School Committee, the district-wide Coordinating Council, and on other committees to support education in our schools.  Shrewsbury has benefited enormously from Mark’s dedication, commitment and passion. He cares deeply, especially advocating for those who may not have the loudest voice, rolling up his sleeves to get involved and make a difference.

I have always been impressed by Mark’s thoughtfulness and ability to recognize and acknowledge the good work of others. I also appreciated that in times of stress, Mark always keep the work fun.

Mark also coached our son, Jacob, in both soccer and baseball. I honestly could never figure out how he found the time, but he was patient, instructive and encouraging, making participation a positive experience for all the young athletes.

There is no one more deserving of this award and I am delighted that Mark is being honored. My heartiest congratulations to Mark and deep thanks for his outstanding contribution to Shrewsbury, along with a big hug.
