SHREWSBURY, Mass. – Teresa Santa Sabatalo DeMalia, of Shrewsbury, died Jan. 16 of cancer. She was 81.
DeMalia was born April 1, 1931, in Worcester to Angelo and Florence DePalma Sabatalo. She married William A. DeMalia on May 10, 1952. She was in the first graduating class of Venerini Academy.
She loved playing tennis, walking, traveling to Europe with her husband and visiting the Vatican, Swiss Alps and Vienna to see the waltzes.
DeMalia worked at her husband’s accounting practice as his office manager for more than 60 years. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Worcester.
DeMalia is survived by her husband; three sons, William A. (Patricia) DeMalia Jr., of Rockledge, Fla., Michael A. (Jeanne) DeMalia, of Shrewsbury, John A. (Laurie) DeMalia, of Hubbardston, Mass.; two daughters, Theresa M.A. (Frank) Rocco, of Worcester, and Mary T. Farina, of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Joseph Sabatalo, of Worcester, and Richard (Patricia) Sabatalo, of Auburn; two sister-in-laws, Jean Sabatalo and Elaine DeMalia; 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Andrew V. DeMalia; a grandson, Vincent W. DeMalia; a brother, Angelo Sabatalo; a sister, Angela DiVirgilio; and a brother-in-law, Andrew V. DeMalia.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, at Mercadante Funeral Home in Worcester. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
