MILLBURY, Mass. – Michelena A. (Laganelli) Ethier, 83, of Millbury, died on Friday, Dec. 21 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus after a brief illness.
Michelena was married for 65 years to her husband, Eugene R. Ethier of Millbury. Besides her husband she leaves behind two daughters; Rebecca J. Martel and her husband John of Auburn and Kathy M. Desroches and her husband John of Oxford; three sons, Eugene R. Ethier Jr. and his wife Cindy of Dudley, Steven F. Ethier and his wife Ellen of Oxford and Kenneth R. Ethier of Charlton; a sister, Beverly Ford of Oxford; three brothers, Lawrence Laganelli of Shrewsbury, Anthony Laganelli of Pennsylvania and Ronald Fitzback of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Ethier was born in Worcester, son of the late Antonio and Jeanne (Fitzback) Laganelli and is also predeceased by a brother, Angelo Laganelli and a sister, Francis Mahoney.
Family was the priority in Michelena’s life, especially her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was a championship caliber card player and enjoyed playing bingo and gardening.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 24 in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are on Sunday, Dec. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
