Obituary: James F. "Baba" Hoey, Jr., 60

WHITINSVILLE, Mass. - James F. "Baba" Hoey, Jr., 60, of Whitinsville, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at home. He was the husband of Mary R. (LaCanfora) Hoey.

In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by two daughters, Michelle Hoey and her longtime companion Stephen White, both of Shrewsbury, and Jamie (Hoey) and her husband Levon DerKosrofian of Whitinsville; three brothers, David Hoey of Spencer, Michael Hoey and Kevin Hoey, both of Worcester; a sister Kathleen Kiernan of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren, Bryan, Zabel, Sosie and Perry; several nieces and nephews; his beloved cat, Zoe and his dog, Bridget.

Mr. Hoey worked at Alanax Corporation of Delaware for 5 years. He previously worked for over 20 years at Reed Rico in Holden.

He was born April 18, 1952 in Worcester, a son of the late James F. Hoey, Sr. and Florence (Streeter) Hoey. He was a graduate of Burncoat Senior High School in Worcester and had attended Mount Wachusett Community College.

Mr. Hoey had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Hoey was married to the love of his life, Mary, and they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 9, 2012.

James enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and attending many motorcycle events. He was an all around handyman and took great pride in his vehicles. His greatest joy was spending time and spoiling his 4 grandchildren, Bryan, Zabel, Sosie and Perry.

Funeral services, with full military honors, will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at 9 a.m. from the Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St. Uxbridge followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Soorp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Apostolic Church, 315 Church St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St., Worcester 01603. Calling hours will be held Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
