WEST BOYLSTON, Mass. - Donald S. Smith, Sr., 68, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012 after a long courageous battle with Sarcoma.
Donald leaves his wife of 44 years, Leslie E. (Warren) Smith; three children, Donald S. Smith, Sr and his wife Erin of Sterling, Brenda L. Shephard and her husband Walter of West Boylston and Shawn M. Smith of Shrewsbury; four grandchildren, Brenda M. Smith, Chloe Shepard, Teagan and Branlin Smith; his brother, David A. Smith of West Boylston; his aunt, Margaret Smith of Rocport and several cousins.
Donald was born in Holden the son of Harold E. and Mary J. (Desauntis) Smith and graduated from Wachusett Regional High School. Donald was superintendant for the West Boylston Water Department for many years before retiring. Following retirement, Donald started his own water consulting business, C.I. Services. He was a member of the New England Water Works Association, the Massachusetts Water Works Association and Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.
Donald loved building model cars and Boston sports. He loved to spend time with his family and friends at Strawberry Park Campground in Connecticut and held dearly all the friendships he had with the people in West Boylston.
Donald’s visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 1 from 4: to 7 p.m. at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 W. Boylston St. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester St. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
