SHREWSBURY, Mass. – Mildred "Millie" E. Bacon George of Shrewsbury died Jan. 7 at her home after an illness. She was 90.
George was born Jan. 11, 1922, in Worcester to Louis L. and Nettie Pike Bacon. Educated in Worcester schools, she worked as a welder during World War II. After raising her children, she worked at the former Data General and in the bakery department at Julio’s Market.
She had a love for animals, people and her family and enjoyed bowling, playing cards and watching the Boston Red Sox.
George is survived by two daughters, Karyn (Les) Liberty, of Dade City, Fla., and Sue (Julio) Colangelo, of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; a son, Jay (Nancy) George, of Worcester; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward George, in 2008; a brother, James Bacon; and a sister, Barbara Bacon, in 1951.
Visitation is from 11a.m. to noon Friday at Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home. A funeral service at will follow at funeral home. Burial will be at Worcester County Memorial Park.
