SHREWSBURY, Mass. - Shrewsbury Town Clerk Sandra Wright is asking those who haven't filled out and returned their 2013 town census to do so soon.
Also known as the Annual Street Listing, the census is needed by the town to help maintain current voter registration. The list is also used by the Office of Jury Commissioner in assigning jury duty.
The street listing can also be used as proof of residency by citizens.
State law requires that the form be completed by every resident every year.
The census collects names, gender, birth dates occupations and other information from residents.
According to Wright, the town has received 5,000 fewer census forms than this time last year. The clerk's office will mail a second notification within the coming weeks to households that have not yet returned the forms.
