SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Today is Thanksgiving. Here's a few things Shrewsbury residents ought to know:

  • Shrewsbury varsity football will play at Milford High School at 10:15 a.m. With an 8-2 record, the Colonials have a chance to snatch the No. 1 seed in the Division 1 playoffs.
  • The Second Annual Shrewsbury Turkey Trot for the Memory will start at 8 a.m. on the town common and concludes at the Mount Olivet Lutheran Church on Prospect Street. The fundraiser for Alzheimer's research consists of a 5-mile run and 2-mile fun walk. Last year's event drew about 500 participants.
  • Schools, libraries and municipal offices are closed. Trash collection will be delayed a day. If your collection day is scheduled for Thursday, it now will be picked up Friday. If your collection day is Friday, it now will be picked up Saturday. Rubbish and recycling should be curbside by 7 a.m.
