SHREWSBURY, Mass. - We hope you enjoyed that January thaw while it lasted, because it looks like Central Massachusetts is going to be hit with some snow just after midnight Tuesday and most of Wednesday morning.

According to Shrewsbury weather analyst Jim Arnold, the storm doesn’t appear to be a major event, but could still drop 2 to 5 inches of snow on the area.

The National Weather Service issued an advisory for Wednesday from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m., and noted that the snow could change to rain before ending.

The NWS also warned that motorists should be careful on bridges and overpasses where slippery spots can occur.

The storm is expected to reach as far as the New Hampshire border to the north, with the greatest potential for higher amounts of snow in areas south of the Mass Pike, according to Arnold.

Arnold said temperatures should remain in the low to mid-30s, and winds should be light and from the east, shifting to the northwest as the snow ends.
