SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Veterans Day is Sunday, Nov. 11. Here are a few events happening in and around Shrewsbury to honor veterans.

Shrewsbury's veterans will hold their annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Everlasting War Memorial in front of the Shrewsbury Public Library.

The Friends of the Library and the Library Board of Trustees will host a free reception immediately following the ceremony for all veterans and attendees.

Also on Sunday, Veterans Inc. will host its annual Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at 69 Grove St., Worcester. A patriotic children's corner sponsored by the Worcester Arts Council will be on site and will include free American flags and balloons, arts and crafts and more. Kids can also create thank-you cards for veterans. For more information, contact Amanda Riik at 800-482-2565, ext.123, or email amandariik@veteransinc.org.

Shrewsbury schools and municipal offices will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, in recognition of Veterans Day. Trash, recycling and yard waste collection will be delayed by one day between Nov. 12 and Nov. 17. This week's recycling will be a green route.
