SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Those in the holiday spirit enjoyed a hearty breakfast, a cookie sale, fellowship and quality time with Santa Claus on Saturday morning at Trinity Episcopal Church in Shrewsbury.
"We just want to welcome anyone at Trinity Episcopal," said Jane Goodwin, who organized this year's event.
This will be the Rev. Erin Kirby's first Christmas at Trinity since she joined the church in September. Kirby, who spent the morning with attendees making advent wreaths, said the church "does Christmas beautifully well."
Outside, dozens of Maine Christmas trees were collecting drops of water from a cold December drizzle. Inside, family and friends gathered over coffee and cocoa and pancakes and syrup. Santa sat with children, posed for pictures, told stories and visited with nearly everyone at the event.
"It's a wonderful way to get everyone together – to get families together," said attendee Marilyn Samuelson.
