Worcester Children's Chorus Plans Auditions

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Children's Chorus will celebrate its fifth anniversary season this year and will hold auditions Aug. 21, 22 and 29.

Highlights of the 2012-2013 anniversary season will include:

  • A fifth Anniversary Gala Celebration at Mechanic’s Hall;
    A solo concert sponsored by the Music Guild of Worcester;
  • Collaboration with the Assabet Valley Mastersingers performing Richard Einhorn’s “Voices of Light;”
  • A guest appearance with the Worcester Chorus for a concert version of Bizet’s “Carmen.”

Members of the WCC Tour Chorus will also travel to New York City this November to sing John Rutter’s “Mass for the Children” at Carnegie Hall under the direction of renowned composer, John Rutter.

Founded in September of 2008, the Worcester Children’s Chorus offers children ages 8-18 the opportunity to sing in one of its four ensembles. Singers are selected by audition and pay a modest tuition. Scholarships are offered based on financial need.

The Chorus resides on the campus of Assumption College and is lead by Artistic Director Jennifer Kane. Current membership includes singers from Framingham, Grafton, Holden, Hubbardston, Jefferson, Lancaster, North Brookfield, Northborough, Oxford, Paxton, Shrewsbury, Sturbridge, Upton, Westborough, and Worcester.
