SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Conservation Commission Chair Robert Jacques will be honored by Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services Saturday at its 9th Annual Gala.
He will receive the Harry S. Cutting Jr. Award, named for the noted Shrewsbury philanthropist, who, like Jacques, was a founding member of the family services agency.
The gala will be held at 6 p.m. at St. John's High School. It had been postponed due to the Feb. 9 blizzard.
SYFS established the award in 1990. Previous winners include Town Moderator Christopher Mehne, Janet Trippi and the Irving J. Donahue family.
Jacques, a former public health director, helped transform the municipal landfill into an ash monofill for Wheelabrator Environmental System’s Millbury facility. In 1989, he his health director's position to work for Wheelabrator.
SYFS will also recognize Nick Silverio, Kristen Grip, Aaron Hayden and Jennifer Tylock with Outstanding Youth of Shrewsbury awards.
