Rain Can't Dampen Spirits of Fox Lane Graduates

BEDFORD, N.Y. – Dark clouds lingered above a tent at the Venetian Theater at Caramoor Wednesday, but those inside it kept sunny dispositions.

Families and friends of the Fox Lane High School Class of 2011 sat beneath the tent, waiting with happy anticipation for their loved ones to receive their diplomas and enter the next stage of their lives.

Rain drops began to fall as the students processed in, wearing the red and white symbolic of Fox Lane High School. Students were safe from the drizzle under the protection of the tent as Fox Lane Principal Joel Adelberg asked the students show their appreciation for the support their family and friends have given them throughout the years.

"Sitting by your side and behind you, as they've always been, are you families, staff and friends," he said.

Adelberg told the class that it was an exceptional one at Fox Lane High School.

“You are a class of high achievers, superstars on the athletic fields and stage; your art work lines our walls," he said to cheers from the crowd.

Adelberg also praised the class for its unity throughout the last four years, saying each student came in as an individual but left as a part of a whole.

“Today you graduate as a class that has found its collective voice and leaves as one," he said.
