Another Alleged Oil Theft Occurs in Pelham Manor

PELHAM MANOR, N.Y. – Pelham Manor police responded to Fairway Market on Pelham Parkway on Saturday morning after two suspects allegedly stole used cooking oil, one of several crimes of that nature in recent months.

Police spoke to the security officer at the market at 7:40 a.m. Saturday after he reported the alleged crime. He said that cooking oil was stolen from the loading dock at the back of the store at 7:20 a.m.

Officers asked him why he waited to report the theft, and he said that the employees who saw it did not find him immediately because he was opening another part of the store and the employees did not know where he was, according to the police report.

One employee gave police the license plate number and a description of the plate. Police could not find the plate number on file.

A witness who works in the loading dock area told police that he approached the two suspects as they were allegedly committing the theft and told them they would be arrested if they did not stop. The two left without incident.

Security footage showed the back of what appeared to be a white panel truck. Police could not identify the license plate, but the video did show suspects who fit the description provided by the witness.

Police asked the security officer why Fairway Market did not lock the container to help stop the thefts, but he could not give them an answer.
