ARMONK, N.Y. The winter production of the Byram Hills High School Theatre Stage 2012 The Mystery of Edwin Drood, will be performed on March 8, 9 and 10. The Rupert Holmes musical based on an unfinished Charles Dickens novel provides music, comedy and alternative endings that are selected by the audience.
Ive never seen a show like this, its great fun and gets the audience going, said Zach Stuckelman, a senior who has performed in every Byram Hills show since his freshman year. They join us on the ride and decide what the ending is.
Kathleen Turner, a senior who moved to Armonk from California last year and is appearing in her second Byram Hills show, said that this show is so different and has spicy characters.
I could be a murderer. We dont play characters, we play caricatures, Turner said.
Adam Shatraw, the music and theater teacher who is directing the show, said another unusual element is a female cast member is playing a mans role.
He said 100 students are participating in the production as actors, musicians and the production crew. They are currently building a set that includes a moving train and colorful Victorian fabric for the curtains
The play was cast in late December with eight weeks of rehearsals starting after Christmas break. The show will be performed March 8 at 7 p.m., March 9 at 8 p.m. and March 10 at 3 and 8 p.m.
