Field Library Hosts 'Behind the Lens' Book Signing

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Have you seen Joe Deutsch’s photos of the Hudson Valley? Do you recognize his views of our local landmarks? Want to meet him in person?Come to the book signing with Joe Deutsch and meet the local author, Jean Moczarski, on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the Field Library. At the age of 14, Deutsch escaped being conscripted into the German Army as Hitler marched across Europe. The story of his escape is one of “fortuitous luck” and friendship dating back to World War I. The tale was the inspiration for this biography as it is both a story of luck and of courage. Deutsch immigrated to the U.S., married, and had a successful business career with Godiva Chocolates, creating the gold packaging and helping make the company the “Tiffany of Chocolates.” In retirement, Deutsch embarked on a second, deeply rewarding career in photography. His photos grace the “Hope for Youth” annual calendar, which also includes Jim Witt’s long-range weather forecasts.Paperback copies of this new book “Behind the Lens: the Story of Joe Deutsch, Hudson Valley Photographer”, will be available for purchase at the book-signing for $15.99. To order the book online, email Jean Moczarski at: jean.moczarski@gmail.com
