Stamford Neighbors Notes

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Nick Type, an owner of the New Canaan’s Filling Station burger joint, is looking forward to this fall when his chain will expand to downtown Stamford.

The relaxed eatery offers a healthier take on typical fast-food fare, selecting many ingredients from local organic farms that are free from hormones, nitrates and antibiotics. The Filling Station also uses recycled packaging. Type's new location at 3 Landmark Square will bring that same tasty concept to Atlantic Street in October, under the name Station Eats.

Reprising a successful turn as Jean Valjean, Westhill High School graduate Will Strong will play the same role in Curtain Call’s Summer Youth Theatre’s production of "Les Miserables." Strong, who also played the role as a sophomore, leads a talented cast of performers, several of whom are also veterans of the 2008 production.

Joseph Cordaro will return as Marius and Tyler Wolfson, a University of Connecticut student who previously played Javert, is now cast as Bamatabois. Bene Cordaro, who played an “old woman” in 2008, has graduated to role of Madam Thenardier.

Rachel Schulte, a graduate of Stamford High School, plays Fantine. Director Brian J. Bianco leads this cast of more than 60 Fairfield County performers -- ages 10 to 21. George Croom provides musical direction. The show runs from Aug. 3 to Aug. 13 at the Kweskin Theater. While fans were enjoying Five for Fighting at Alive @ Five, Liz Carlino and Paige Sommer were busy manning The Daily Stamford booth. Three young New Jersey girls -- Shelby, Alexa and Alaina --- were thrilled to receive free, bright red Daily Stamford lunch bags. Meanwhile, Stamfordites Anita Jones and cousin Thomas Wright checked out the bumper stickers, bottle openers and pens.
