Hearing Set on Fares for Fairfield Metro Station

FAIRFIELD, Conn.—Most of the talk about Fairfield’s third train station recently has been about how much it will cost. But next week Fairfielders will get to sound off on how much it will cost to get there. Metro-North Railroad will hold a public hearing Monday, Aug. 1. to get input from commuters on fares for the Fairfield Metro train station.

According to Metro-North, the current plan is to have tickets cost the same for Fairfield Metro as they do for the station in Fairfield center. Commuters who think differently or want to support that plan can give Metro-North their opinion Monday in New York City.

The public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 1 at 5 p.m. in the Metropolitan Transit Authority Board Room, on the fifth floor of 347 Madison Ave., Manhattan. Those who wish to speak can register between 4:30 and 6 p.m. that day, and will have three minutes to plead their case. To register in advance, to get more information, or to comment, go to the MTA website or call (212) 532-4900.
