Two Men Charged in Norwalk Statutory Rape Case

NORWALK, Conn. – Two young men from El Salvador were arrested Tuesday for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old Norwalk girl.

David Flores, 19, of 17 Novak St., was charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault and injury/risk/impairing morals. His bond was set at $500,000. Adan Lemus-Castro, 21, of 17 Novak St., was charged with second-degree sexual assault and injury/risk/impairing morals. His bond was set at $250,000. Although they share an address, they are not related.

"We were unclear of their legal status in this country so we were concerned about them being a flight risk," Lt. Ashley Gonzalez, commander of the Norwalk Police Youth Bureau, said of the high bond. Neither suspect has been in the country long.

The case came to the police department July 5 through the Department of Children and Families. Detective Timothy Marquis investigated.

"Both individuals clearly knew she was 14 years old," Gonzalez said. "They engaged in sexual content with her, and it came to attention of her parents." The men admit having done it, Gonzalez said. Flores has been involved with the girl within the last five weeks and Lemus-Castro during June. The victim has cooperated with the investigation.

Police have notified U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
