Darien Website Supports Local Causes

Holmes School fifth-grader William Rooney won a contest to take over for Principal Geraldine Petrizzi as Principal for the Day. While acting as principal, William hosted a party in the principal's office, where he used vouchers from Shop the Gold Coast to order Heights Pizza for his friends while 20 percent of what was spent was donated back to the school.

Shop the Gold Coast hosts school fundraisers on the first and third weeks of each month on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The next school fundraisers will be held this week. Visit the website and click on "School Fundraisers" to see which local businesses are holding specials that could benefit your school.

In addition, Justin Lee will be working for Shop the Gold Coast this summer. Lee is a member of the DHS Fuel Cell team, one of the local causes supported by the site. Other local causes include the restoration of the Norwalk Civil War Monument in Mill River and the Backyard Humanitarian in Stamford.
