Tyrone Tyson, 44, was charged with fifth-degree larceny and third-degree burglary. Tyson is currently in jail after his arrest on robbery charges in September. He was arraigned on the new charges Thursday.
In June 2013, police received a complaint of a burglary at a home on East Avenue in which a $2,000 laptop was stolen. A window had been broken and a door had been damaged at the home, police said. An axe found next to the door may have been used to break the window, police said.
Bloodstains were also found at the crime scene, according to police reports.
Officers took samples of the blood and sent it to the state laboratory for testing. In March, police were informed that the sample matched Tyson, who was being held at Bridgeport Correctional Center. Detectives took a confirmation swab from Tyson in April and confirmed that his DNA matched the blood found at the scene. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.
